about

We are sisters, both born in the early 1980's amidst the mountains of western North Carolina. At the ages of two and three we moved with our Mama back to her native Chicago. Our first home there was with our grandparents, George and Gerry Armstrong. They were colorful people who had been dubbed the Mom & Pop of the Chicago folk music scene.

Our parents, Jennifer Armstrong and Frederick Park, like our grandparents, are performers. Our Mama is a singer, storyteller, poet and player of many instruments. Our Papa is an artist, storyteller, teacher of dance and philosopher. They are both beautiful, courageous students of life.

We've been singing together since we were little girls. It's in our blood. Growing up we bounced back and forth between the mountains and the city. The musical community we are part of had no geographical boundaries.

Our initial idea for this recording was simply to document our favorite songs that we've sing together over the years. We've stayed close to that concept and have wondered forward a bit too.

We would like to thank all the people whose songs we have sung, everyone who has helped with this recording, particularly Willy for playing with us, the Amidon family and our Mama for singing with us, Al for recording our last four songs, our Papa for his graphics and all those who encouraged us along the way. Our biggest thanks fo to Bob Bowker. Without his patience, love, support and amazing ears this CD would still be only a thought. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We hope you all enjoy this music. It sure has been a trip putting it all together.

Love, Georgia Rose and Suzannah

This album is dedicated with love to our parents.
